Hi All,
Emsisoft talking about the first Java ransom virus out there.
States that is run on Windows, Linux, OSx.
http://blog.emsisoft.com/2016/01/01/meet-ransom32-the-first-javascript-ransomware/
In their eMail, they state:
As with all ransomware, Ransom32 will encrypt users’
files, photos, documents and other data and demand a
ransom payment in exchange for unlocking their data.
Ransom32 is unique in that it uses JavaScript code,
which makes it potentially portable for all operating
systems. A Windows/Linux/Mac malware all in one would
be a totally new league of ransomware threats!
Typically, Linux is pretty impervious to this kind of stuff,
mainly because viruses are coded and targeted at "THAT" operating
system.
Does this new wrinkle affect us?
Many thanks,
-T
