We must have the same one!  Take out the batteries, put the same ones back 
in, and you can use it. Next time, rinse and repeat.

I have an electronic bathroom scale where I remove the battery after use. 
Not the same problem but it sucks batteries dry sitting there. I think the 
household appliance industry needs some good embedded systems designers/
programmers.
