He came over from Boston to visit me in upstate NY and on the way discovered a section of the front frame was getting ready to fail. Apparently that was a feature. Anyway he made arrangements for the repair and took my car back to Boston. When it was fixed I drove it over. The Mohawk Trail has interesting stretches including a famous hairpin turn. Luckily I'd grown up with understeering overpowered American cars so breaking the readend loose came naturally. Entry and exiting the Sprite was amusing since I was over 6', but once it the Sprite was roomier than the 3000 with the 6 shoehorned in. He actually had 2 3000s, both of which were stolen. He got sick of the hassle and bought a Volvo. When that one was stolen at least it was recovered. When I was working in Boston it didn't help my peace of mind that the Firebird was at the top of the stolen car list. Great place, Boston. > This one is also the wrong car, but it explains why sometimes you need > to update your kit: > When we went through the Brit sportscar phase another friend had a MGB. I drove it once and wasn't impressed. That one's quirk was throwing the fan/ waterpump belt with enough force to dent the bonnet. He carried spares in the trunk. The video mentioned the Fiat Spider. I had one of those that I got to visit on alternate Tuesdays as the dealership tried to get it road worthy. The loaner was a Mustang and finally after a heated discussion I kept the Mustang and they shoved the Fiat wherever. It looked pretty though.
