The electric co-op mailed out boxes with an assortment of CFLs. I'd already switched over so I took it to the postoffice to mail to a friend. "I bet the carriers loved getting hit with a flurry of big boxes! "Grrrrrrrr". A few years later they did it again with LEDs. When we contracted to assemble grow-lights for Sylvania there were a certain number of cosmetic rejects and we'd give them to the employees. In that case I'd walk around town and see the warm purple glow from the windows. I'm sure they were growing African violets.
