In my house 'Mommy I've got a boo-boo!' was met with 'You know where the medicine cabinet is. Don't make a mess.' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiomersal Merthiolate was the other offering depending on when the first aid supplies were restocked. Same sort of bottle with a glass dipstick for application and the orange stain. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexachlorophene pHisoHex was used to wash the area. It seems stuff that actually works gets banned sooner or later. https://www.jacksonshardware.com/products/lundmark%E2%84%A2-3287p004-4- tsp-cleaner-4-lb-powder Note the asterisk. This stuff is sodium metasilicate, not trisodiium phosphate. At least this site lists the correct ingredients. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trisodium_phosphate TSP was very effective in laundry detergents and general cleaning until it was banned in many areas. You can still find it but you need to be careful to read the labels or you'll get TSP*.
