I had a '49 Chrysler New Yorker that had the generation prior to the PowerFlite. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presto-Matic Worst of all worlds. I'd pulled transmissions without a jack but when I took the full weight of that cast iron beast I realized I was going to set a personal best bench press record. I rented a transmission jack to reinstall it. My girlfriend also had moments with the car when she became the designated driver. It was a cast iron straight 8 engine with no power steering. No problem on the road but parallel parking in front of her apartment was interesting.
