Boston was about the same. When I had an apartment in Somerville and went 
to an evening event walking home was a lot faster that waiting a half hour 
for the reduced evening schedule. I seldom drove in Boston. If I had work 
there I would rent a room or apartment, drive down Sunday night, park the 
car, and retrieve it Friday afternoon to go back to New Hampshire. If I 
did take the train or bus it was to go to some other part of town to walk 
around. There were a few places like Roxbury where you didn't go but most 
areas were okay.
