Sounds interesting so I got the Kindle version. Constantine, like many 
rulers, had a death bed conversion. If baptism washes away all your sins 
you'd better wait until you're on the verge of not being able to sin 
anymore.

Russell's 'The Germanization of Early Medieval Christianity' takes the 
discussion further. A warrior race was a hard sell for a 'turn the other 
cheek' religion. It never really took as the Teutonic Knights waged the 
Northern Crusades to Chritianize the Balkan to say nothing of taking a 
whack at the Eastern Orthodox. They made it as far as Lake Peipus.
