The problem I had was I would select the Walk activity and head down the trail. This area doesn't have a heavy hardwood canopy or tall buildings but Sometimes I would be next to a ridge or someplace where the GPS couldn't get a fix. It would pop a message saying so and turn itself off. There was no way to turn it back on without stopping the activity and restarting it. Afterwards when I looked at the map it would show the track ending a mile or so from the trailhead. It still did steps and used that to estimate the distance. > That's a feature I would like. Same reason, but not that high. Wait, it > that meters or feet? If it is feet, then yes, some times I go that high. Feet. It's not extreme mountaineering or anything but the valley is surrounded by mountains so unless you're walking on a trail near one of the rivers you're going uphill. https://www.summitpost.org/ward-mountain/229250 That's one of the more scenic ones but I've reluctantly come to the realization that I'm not what I was 20 or 30 years ago and not up for a 5100 foot gain. 1000 or 2000 is fine.
