Many people use it with no problem but Ventoy itself triggers paranoia in some people. The developer is Chinese and it contains some binary blobs. Going to a site that seems to be Malware Central finishes the job off. I'd downloaded the Linux Mint iso on the laptop and was planning to nuke the existing Lubuntu so I figured it was a good test case. Ventoy worked as advertised and doesn't appear to be a Rubber Ducky.
