The above are the types popular in the US, and include som species that aren't really lettuce but are used in green salads so they're grouped together. Iceberg or crisphead is the most popular and has almost no nutritional value. I think it might have some vitamin K but not much else. That avoids the problem of ears that are incompletely filled or have worms. It's usually boiled. The photo is labeled Myanmar but I've seen the same thing in Mexico.
