My grandmother broke her hip back in the '50s. They might as well have shot her then and there. I don't think she ever got out of bed again. It took a little while to regain the mobility to throw a leg over a bike but I got it done. I'll admit that after I've come back from a hike I really have to think about what I'm doing so I don't hit the right side saddlebag. For a while I only used the left one.
