There is something to be said for monarchs. If you don't like them you can 
eliminate the one point of failure. Even Thomas Aquinas concluded regicide 
wasn't a sin if the reg sucked. I think Robert Bellarmine SJ mentioned 
that to James VI & I during a heated discussion about the divine right of 
kings.
