Since there are no LNG tankers that meet the requirements of the Jones Act, you cannot ship LNG from Brownsville TX to Gloucester MA. Since LNG is fungible that led to the embarrassing import of LNG that could be traced back to Russia. That's led to the US pressuring Germany into building LNG ports and buying US LNG. What role the US had in blowing up Nord Stream 2 can be debated. Because of local opposition and environmental challenges it's almost impossible to build a gas pipeline from an area like West Virginia where natural gas is so plentiful it's given away in some cases to New England.
