You can configure leafnode (with regex) so that it only downloads the groups you're (likely to be) interested in. Examples from my leafnode 2 config: server = some.news.server nodesc = 1 only_groups_pcre = (alt\.|comp\.|)os\.linux($|\.(mi|sl|ub|deb|sus|ha).*) server = news.mozilla.org nodesc = 1 only_groups_pcre = mozilla\.((dev\.apps|support)\.(th|fi)|general)
