One night at the Ramada Inn bar I got into a discussion with a contractor who was calling on one of the defense industries in the area. I roughed out a scheme for an electronic firing system for something like a mini-gun. It must have been good because he called me the next day with a job offer. I declined because I couldn't remember what sort of smoke I had been blowing the night before. Yeah, I was definitely in that culture.
