One evening I watched the sun go down from a remote area in Nevada where I was camping. As I admired the night sky a rocket went up. It was damn impressive. I wasn't sure if WWIII was starting but when I got back to civilization I found out it was a test launch of a Poseidon missile. I don't know if it was intentional but on a beautiful summer evening with people sitting outside most of the west coast noticed. My brother was the rocket scientist in the family so I've also seen a launch at Vandenberg. It was a daytime launch but when you're a few miles away it's hard to miss.
