The fishing sites along the river have signs cautioning people to limit their consumption to once a month and to not eat the pike at all. The copper mining operation upstream in the 20th century turned the whole river into a Superfund site. It's not as concentrated as the Berkeley Pit water that kills waterfowl but it's not a pure mountain stream.
