You can add to that another interesting perspective, that of protein. Imagine a world where only the rich get to eat meat, and the peasants may only (to save the world of course) eat plants. The result is that they will live with a lack of nutrients, they will become more tired, have less energy, and be less likely to revolt. The rich will continue to eat meat and a healthy balanced diet, and will have the physical and mental resources to run their kingdoms.
