Specially considering that a person would likely use the same registration for his entire life. It has to be the same registration in order to access the old ebooks. And the login is tied to an email, so probably we have to keep that same email for life. I asked chatgpt about this. I also got the previous information from it. +++·························· Q: I just realized that the Adobe Digital Identity login is an email. And this would give access to all the ebooks a person buys on his life. What happens if the email provider disappears, can we change the login email to another? Great question — and you're absolutely right to think long-term about **Adobe Digital Editions (ADE)** and **Adobe ID** access to your purchased or authorized eBooks. Here's how it works and what options you have: --- ### 🔐 Adobe ID = Email Login * Your **Adobe ID is tied to your email address**. * All books authorized (especially with Adobe DRM) are linked to that ID. * You can use the same Adobe ID on multiple devices to read your books. --- ### ❓ What happens if the **email provider disappears** or you lose access to that address? #### ➤ The good news: * You **do not lose access to your Adobe ID account** just because the email domain disappears. * Adobe **only uses the email as a login name** — it’s not your identity; it's just a label for it. #### ➤ But: If you lose access to the email account and forget your Adobe password, then **password recovery becomes difficult**, since Adobe will send recovery emails there. --- ### ✅ Can you change the Adobe ID email? **Yes. Adobe allows you to change the email address** linked to your Adobe ID. Here’s how: #### 🔧 To change your Adobe ID email: 1. Go to: [https://account.adobe.com](https://account.adobe.com) 2. Sign in with your **current Adobe ID**. 3. Under **"Account and security"**, go to **"Account information"**. 4. You’ll see your email address listed — click **"Change"** next to it. 5. Enter the **new email address**, confirm, and Adobe will update your ID. > ⚠️ Important: This change **does not affect your authorizations or purchased eBooks** — they remain linked to your **Adobe ID**, regardless of the new email login. --- ### 📚 What about books downloaded with the old Adobe ID? They still work, **as long as the Adobe ID (same internal account)** is used to authorize your device, even if the login email has changed. So: * Changing the email on your Adobe account = ✅ Safe * Creating a new Adobe ID = ❌ Not safe (you would lose access to books tied to the old ID) --- ### 🧠 Best Practice * **Change your Adobe ID email** before losing access to the old one (e.g. if your old provider is shutting down). * Make sure to **keep a record of your Adobe ID login and password** in a safe place. * Consider using a **permanent email provider** (e.g. Gmail or Outlook) to avoid issues later. --- Let me know if you want a step-by-step walkthrough for changing the email with screenshots, or help backing up your ADE data. ··························++- -- Cheers, Carlos.
