My friendly neighbourhood AI insist on official death in the 12:th century. Anecdotally, I heard a story that once my grandfather visited sweden, from iceland. And for some reason he and my mother were visiting the country side in the north where they have a very strange dialect. Apparently he could speak with an old man there in icelandic, and the old man could speak this very rare dialect and they would understand each other. Fascinating how such pockets can survive.
