That project gives a mixed message about their intentions for compatibility. They say "Replacing the Xorg server" is a "non-goal", yet they say they're open to extending the X11 protocol. Which means they'll need their own xlib library for GUI programs/toolkits to link against, and those programs/toolkits might at some point no longer build with the Xorg xlib as well, or even if they do, some distro packages might only be built for the Pheonix xlib. I'd prefer if protocol changes were left off the table at this point, X11 already has extensions to tick all the major boxes such as handling OpenGL and video. Wayland is already reinventing the wheel if that's what you want. On the up side, the site did point out this Wayland -> X11 "bridge" project, which is promising for if/when programs like Firefox drop X11 support: https://git.linuxping.win/12to11/12to11 -- __ __ #_ < |\| |< _#
