It's astonishing how blatant salesgoons are about this kind of thing. When $EMPLOYER got acquired by another company a few years back, we had a competitor running around telling customers our product was "going away" and even pretending to be the official replacement. Naturally, they said this over the phone rather than in an e-mail, so we never got anything legally actionable on them...
