Haven't a clue; I don't know any Microsofties myself. It's not a new thing, in any case; PS has always been extremely capable but a bear to figure out. It may be that it was better-documented in the past, but they have a maddening habit of deleting old MSDN pages for no reason, so any quest to better understand it involves a lot of 404s and re- directs to a content-free homepage :/
