Yeah - the *personal* aspect of the personal-computer revolution is the most noted, and rightly so, but it's important to remember that it was also how computing went from Big Business to small business, and, funnily enough, became Big Business in the process. Lotta independent software shops came outta some hobbyist spotting an unfilled niche and cobbling something together to fill it, in those days - I still work for the remnants of one.
