I can't imagine why it *wouldn't* be, unless they're sticking him with
some wireless-only device - which would be a first in my experience,
even among skeevy US telcos. If it's got an Ethernet jack on it, get a
non-garbage router and hang that off the connection from the modem/
router - presto, you've got a local network you can configure any damn
way you please.
