Also don't underestimate the power of habit. If you are used to photoshop, moving to something else will be painful. But if you have no prior experience, it will be different. My father has been a happy gimp user for many years, and he is 73. No problem with the gui. The only thing he is sensitive to is if they make changes or move buttons around. But all software makers enjoy doing that.
