The boot loader (GRUB, LILO, etc.) chooses where to place the initramfs.
After that, the kernel moves the initramfs.  Look in the early kernel
messages (/var/log/messages and/or output from 'dmesg'.)  Probably you
can control the kernel, but not the boot loader.
