Technical Leader Location - San Jose, CA Description NSSTG develops, tests, and manages the release of Cisco Classic IOS and IOS-XE Software, which runs on nearly eighty percent of the products that Cisco ships to customers. NSSTG collaborates closely with the rest of Cisco engineering to develop, maintain, and enhance the features and functionality that address customer needs and lead to technology breakthroughs. We are leading the transformation of software at Cisco by delivering innovations that span key areas of technology, architecture, and infrastructure. This is Software Development Lead Engineer position! Candidate will lead a project team of engineers involved in Cisco IOS- XE, focusing on Linux driver development, design and development of Linux infrastructure components, Linux bring up and boot. Required Skills: Experience leading 3-7 engineers developing kernel code for Linux and UNIX based systems, using recent Linux kernel distros, HP-UX, FreeBSD, and Solaris using X-windows and shell environments and SDK's. Expert knowledge of device drivers, linux networking stack or memory subsystems. Requires use of a strong background in C/C++ coding and debugging. Expert skills using kernel debuggers and gdb. Must be able to mentor, provide guidance, and demonstrate technical leadership. Communicate goals and requirements of projects or initiatives of the broader team. Ability to plan large projects and take a lead role, mentor junior members. The qualified candidate will have 8-10 years of industry experience. Champion new improved design methodologies, documentation and implementation including unit, performance, scale and system software independently tested after specification of platform requirements and solve system wide problems, and apply extensive experience in RTOS(Real Time Operating System) infrastructure and knowledge of OS internals, file system, Memory and other related areas. Understand advanced testing architecture principles and design practices. Understand advanced datacom concepts. Superior fault analysis and testing skills Desired Skills RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability), Virtualization concepts and background, knowledge of x86, MIPS, PPC processor architectures. Previous work with 2.6.32 or newer Linux Kernels is a plus. Previous experience developing with WindRiver Linux, or Monta Vista Linux Distros a plus. Prior work with QNX, IOS, ION, IOS-XR, BinOS, or DCOS is also a plus. Experience with Cavium Octeon II.
