There is a video card labeled GeForceGT630Graphic on its back that's sitting by, which might be the one that came out of this one. You don't compile code because you choose to, or because Linux might have difficulty with it? Another question (if I may): Suppose you involve yourself in some State or Federal task about some aspect of life in USA (property tax, income tax return, matters of title, immigration, etc) and are required to get on internet extensively for a few days and read and download documents and upload many documents that you create on your computer to their sites and print some of their forms to be filled and mailed by snail mail, etc. Stuff of this nature that's common in USA for just everybody, sometimes. Or you may be looking for a job and have to go through similar activities. Or divorce, etc. Does a Linux machine handle this level of activity without problems? You know, when you're busy concentrating on such matters, you don't want your Operating System come to life and get in between and tell you what you can and what you cannot do, or you have to download and install such and such package first, or you have to first know how to do such and such tasks on a Linux machine to take care of one of the required steps, so you can, say, print this form. You don't want interference, one bit. You want to concentrate and get things done as fast and as well as possible so you can then get on with your life. You want service from your machine, period, not serving it yet some more before being able to use it. Can my OptiPlex 980 with some flavor of Linux on it do that without problem? I can put that GeForce car in it. It has two empty slots for ram. I can get two 4g or two 8g ram for it. I'd like to have such system ready as a back up in case something like one of the above mentioned tasks comes up (they do come up about three or four times each year) and my everyday win10 machine starts acting up (not the one that has video issues right now). Having a good back up system with a reliable Linux machine equipped with all necessary software that can reliably perform the tasks needed is a good idea. I'm imagining right now you may reply to this post saying, "Just stick with your win10". Hahahhahha :-))
