This is incorrect.  Keep in mind the evidence:

* The MS site shows no steps I missed
* Other sites on the topic of how to create a linear trend line
  show no steps I missed.
* joeu2004 , who clearly knows what he is talking about, notes
  he sees "no missing steps"
* You have not been able to list any steps I missed in the creation
  of a linear trend line in Excel
* Numbers, when using its suggested steps, comes up with the same
  results.

So your evidence is... nothing.  Not a thing.  In fact, you even admitted
you agreed I was not missing steps:

This is not to say there are no other forms of analysis which could have
been done... but what I did had "no missing steps".  None.

When the goal is to create a linear trend line, how is creating a linear
trend line not enough?

LOL!  You are the one who keeps saying I was wrong to not do something I
never said I had any intention of doing.

Remember: I predicted an increase in Linux usage.  For the second half of
2011 it is easy to see this trend:

But for the first half of 2012 the trend reversed... when I assumed the
trend would continue (though perhaps not at the same speed) or would at
worst usage would settle at the higher rate. The 2012 data went contrary to
my prediction.

This is all very simple to understand.  But you and your sock Carroll will
never admit to it.
