And even if it was "that easy" it would *still* not be as easy as what the
competition offers.

It is fully supported under OS X and Windows as far as I can tell.  Here is
using a different HP scanner (really an AIO device) which was set up
automatically for me when I added it to my network:

Really... it is hard to see how things could be made much easier... and from
what has been described it is *nowhere* near that easy with Linux.  Nowhere
close.
