Concerning my mentioning problems with networking for ICH controller, I suspect, that the problem is caused by ich chipset, which in VirtualBox uses MSI for networkingi(??), current Coherent Gigabit driver does not support MSI. I am not planning to add this support soon. My conclusion comes from reading changes info on VirtualBox site. What concerns NVME, well beginning from version 7.2.0 support for NVMe emulation was added, but it would require from Coherent at driver to use NVMe protocol too. It means having real NVMe hardware does not change the behaviour of VirtualBox for legacy IDE/SATA controller. If You set the type of controller to nvme then VirtualBox will try to "speak" with guest OS using nvme protocol. HTH
