I got a Mac Plus in late 1993 (it was a step up from what I was using, 
event hen) because it had developed a fault in the video section, and 
Apple would only fix it by replacing the board, costing hundreds of 
dollars (though at least they had a replacement board).  I just bypassed 
the connector and soldered the wires directly to the video deflection 
coils, and all was fine.
