The installers I ran have an option that theoretically allows one to control if it sets itself up as the "system" version (modifying ftype/assoc, and PATH). Of course, I confuse matters even more by having installed both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of both 2.7 and 3.3 Though that paranoia may be fading; I think all "my" prefered add-ons have 2.7-64bit variants (or are truly architecture free). Now if R v3.x ever finishes downloading the "contrib" files (I'm into the sh* files after about 18 hours). Problem with jumping major version is that the contrib files tend to be all new too. -- Wulfraed Dennis Lee Bieber AF6VN wlfraed@ix.netcom.com HTTP://wlfraed.home.netcom.com/
