If there's = a typo, it's going to both of them equally. I am concerned about the name lookup since our servers have had some network= glitches in the past and I'm not confident in our DNS. We can browse the ne= t on the server without a problem but to be sure, I tried this: On the server: >>> socket.gethostbyaddr(socket.gethostbyname('www.google.com')) ('yyz06s07-in-f20.1e100.net', [], ['74.125.226.84']) >>> socket.gethostbyaddr(socket.gethostbyname('www.twitter.com')) ('www2.twitter.com', [], ['199.59.149.198']) On the dev environment: >>> socket.gethostbyaddr(socket.gethostbyname('www.google.com')) ('sea09s02-in-f16.1e100.net', [], ['173.194.33.48']) >>> socket.gethostbyaddr(socket.gethostbyname('www.twitter.com')) ('www4.twitter.com', [], ['199.59.149.230']) Since I'm actually trying to write a twitter client, I was more focused on t= he results from twitter. Since google and twitter are so huge and so distrib= uted, I'd bet neither are good tests for this, but they look approximately r= ight. Are there better ways to test if our network setup is good? At least that wo= uld be a relatively easy thing to fix.
