Quantum computers can solve "try all possibilities" problems by using
Quantum Mechanics to explore all  possibilities simultaneously. I
suspect encryption, except one-time pads, will have to be revamped or
abandoned to stay ahead.  This is going to create a massive social
problem and open astounding possibilities.
