JavaFX 1.x has admittedly not done very well but there is a real buzz about 2.0 and by all reports it is awesome technology. Oracle did not see the point in investing time and effort into supporting 1.x in their new IDE when support for 2.0 is just around the corner. JavaFX 2.0 is a *Java* API and will become the de facto standard for developing rich GUIs with Java. It plays well with Swing and I for one look forward to it!
