Nowadays, complex systems of all types, like Web-based systems,= data centers and cloud infrastructures, social networks, peer-to-peer, mob= ile and wireless systems, cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things, r= eal-time and embedded systems, have increasingly distributed and dynamic sy= stem architectures that provide high flexibility, however, also increase th= e complexity of managing end-to-end application performance. ICPE brings together researchers and industry practitioners to share and pr= esent their experiences, discuss challenges, and report state-of-the-art an= d in-progress research on performance engineering of software and systems, = including performance measurement, modeling, benchmark design, and run-time= performance management. The focus is both on classical metrics such as res= ponse time, throughput, resource utilization, and (energy) efficiency, as w= ell as on the relationship of such metrics to other system properties inclu= ding but not limited to scalability, elasticity, availability, reliability,= and security. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CALL FOR WORK IN PROGRESS AND VISION PAPERS The goal of the work-in-progress and vision track is two-fold: - To provide the opportunity for attendees to present and discuss prelimina= ry results from their latest work obtaining some early feedback from the co= mmunity. - To provide the opportunity to present position papers on emerging hot top= ics in the field of performance engineering motivating new research directi= ons. Work-in-progress papers present promising preliminary results that may not = have been fully validated yet. Although full validation is not required, th= e work presented should be advanced enough to allow attendees to appreciate= its scope and significance. Vision papers present emerging research challenges and long-term research d= irections on topics relevant to the performance engineering community. Subm= issions should clearly present the research questions and their rationale s= ketching possible approaches to their resolution. The goal of such papers i= s to motivate new research and generate debate and discussions on the lates= t challenges in the field of performance engineering. All contributions must be original, not published, accepted or submitted fo= r publication elsewhere. Accepted papers will be published in the Conferenc= e Proceedings and included in the ACM Digital Library. More information can be found at https://icpe2017.spec.org/submissions/work= -in-progress-and-vision-track.html. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Submissions are made via Easychair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf= =3Dicpe2017) and should be clearly marked in the text as "Work-In-Progress = Paper" or "Vision Paper", respectively. Submissions must be in the standard= ACM format for conference proceedings. Papers should not exceed 4 pages do= uble column including figures and tables. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register at the f= ull rate, attend the conference and present the paper. Presented papers wil= l be published in the ICPE 2017 conference proceedings that will be publish= ed by ACM and included in the ACM Digital Library. Authors are required to = adhere to the ACM Policy and Procedures on Plagiarism as well as to the ACM= Policy on Prior Publication and Simultaneous Submissions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROGRAM COMMITTEE Amy Apon, Clemson University Martin Arlitt, HP Labs and University of Calgary Alberto Avritzer, Performance Engineering Consultant Steffen Becker, University of Technology Chemnitz Robert Birke, IBM Zurich Research Laboratory Andre B.
