It described in some detail the classes Raster, ColorModel, SampleModel, DataBuffer, etc. I'm afraid I don't remember the title or author, but it was certainly a Sun publication. My Google-Fu has let me down and I cannot find this article after an exhaustive search. If anyone remembers this article and can point me to it I will be greatly appreciative. Thanks. JH
