Japanese words Displayed

I am  having problem with Japanese characters not getting displayed
properly on installer's UI controls on Solaris platform. The text
appear fine on Panel. Following are the details of what I  tried :

I ran the the installer's setup.jar in Linux and the same setup.jar on
Solaris machine. On linux the japanese characters are displayed
properly while on solaris the japanese characters are garbled on the UI
controls. On the panel the japanese characters appear correctly, but
not on the controls like textbox, dropdown and buttons.

To verify this, I have written a sample java AWT application to display
japanese text on panel and the controls (menu item, textbox). We ran
this application class file on Linux and Solaris and found that on
linux the japanese characters appear fine but on solaris the same
application shows the garbled text on UI controls (but the characters
appear fine on panel.). We ran the sample application on Solaris with
JRE 1.4.2_04, 1.4.2_05 and JRE 1.5 as well. With all the JREs, its the
same behaviour on solaris.

We also tried updating the font.properties file for Solaris JRE with
that from Linux JREs but still no success.

 Did anyone ever encountered such a problem or knows solution for this,
please let me know.
