I spent yesterday evening at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory on the University of Weste of England Campus. I was there to attend a talk on Advanced Robotics organised by the IET and BCS as a joint venture. Prior to the talk we were allowed to wander around the lab and see the range of work that they were doing. To say it is a wonderful playground is definitely understating it. To get youngsters interested again you have got to move mechanisms under the control of a number of micro-controllers. Cranes, robotic manipulators, animatronics etc. Lots of exiting stuff there to garner the imagination of the younger generation. -- ******************************************************************** Paul E.
