Not sure that would work well, as far as I'm aware it would lead to that 
swordfish would be there as plain text and not as a hash. You would need 
to use PASSWORD('swordfish').

I think the following is more what you "should" do:

SET PASSWORD FOR 'mythtv'@'%' = bigshark;

sure you can also use later user in the same way too.
