Dear SQLers:
I decided to install a second instance of SSE2008 on my Win7 box.
The installation went fine.
I started up SSMS, and the new instance was not listed. The
dropdown listing the instances did not include the new instance.
Shouldn't SSMS be able to find them? Isn't that what the
"<Browse for more...>" selection and the "Browse for Servers" page are
for?
I did finally add it manually, and now, it is there for good.
How would I find all of the instances on a system if I did not
know the names of any of them? Is it simply a matter of looking
through disk directories? (This strikes me as rather hokey and that I
am probably missing something.)
Sincerely,
Gene Wirchenko
