I think I've been asked a silly question.  Here it is.

Currently we use SAP Business Objects XI Version 2 and 
an Apache web server to generate reports from data on 
SQL Server 2005, standard edition.  It's a bit wobbly.
We've gone on to obtain Version 3 and Version 4, which 
we can't get to work.  We're supposed to be trying 
4.1 soon.

I've been asked to look at whether we can do it all
with SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server Reporting Services,
instead.

Currently most of the reports are on any of a set of
databases for different regions.  Business Objects
provides a set of "universes" from which users can
run our reports on demand or scheduled, viewed in a
web browser, exported, or in e-mail, or design 
their own.  We also limit a set of one or more 
"costcentres" whose data any given user gets to see.

I've read that the latest version of SSRS is closely
tied to Microsoft SharePoint, which I think no one 
here has seen.  And I'm a poor learner nowadays.

We don't have a lot of money to spend.  Not any more,
anyway.

Is converting to SSRS feasible for us, or is it an
awful lot of work, or just not worth considering?
