Export them to a special folder.
In FMP create a new table with the fields
  id (serial number)
  img (container)
  thumbnail (container, optional for thumbnails)
  path (text)
  name (text)

import records from folder is the very easiest

No, just take the serial number from the import above and use a
reference to take the photo via the id from the related table.

You could use your solution to take a part from the file name, but you
could to this best via calculations automatically,
