Thanks All for ideas.
Hi Harry
I tried using the substitute function, I'm not sure I understand it.
I've never been very good with these logic functions such as position,
substitute, leftwords etc etc
For example:
I tried testfield1 type: text and typed the word: apple into the edit
box
Then ctestfield2 calculation field: substitute(testfield1;"0";
"banana")
So I would have expected the result to be the word: banana in the
ctestfield2 field
BUT actually ctestfield2 returned the text "apple" exactly the same as
entered into testfield1
so what does the "0" do actually. I thought it would just make the
substitution start from position zero in the searchstring.
Harry I think you have a better idea of what I am trying to acheive,
when you typed:
"I'm not certain, but it looks like JayBee wants to extract the text
data
from a single field in a record containing multi-line number and text
data.
i.e.
In one record FieldA contains the data:
"01 Apple
02 Banana
05 Orange"
and JayBee wants FieldB to contain the data:
"Apple
Banana
Orange" "
This is true so I don't get your last suggestion about using separate
fields.
I have a list numbered from 01 to 20 in a checkbox set on each
record. But it depends on what the user selects for that record as to
which ones are then true for that record. So I f they check 01 Apple
02 banana and 05 orange
We'd like just the words: "Apple, banana and Orange" to be stored in a
new field on a separate 'output' layout for clarity.
I hope this all makes sense.
Hope you can help!
Jay
