Harry, that's a great point about not being able to diagnose the problem in Excel without looking at the original data in QuickBooks. Hah! Smart. But I just checked it, and there's nothing out of sorts. The place where everything seems to go awry for FileMaker is clean on both sides of the dividing line. In fact, in the left side column, the cell data is the same in every row: just the account name. In the right column, the cell data is the memo field, which would definitely raise suspicions that a tab or some accidental keystroke might have been entered, since of all the columns, that one is where the client has the greatest interaction (dates, amounts and transaction numbers being entered automatically by the bank). But looking at in several different views on QB Online -- including edit view, which allows me to enter the field and copy the data -- doesn't turn up anything anomalous. Unfortunately, I can only export the data to Excel. But I can view the page source, and again there's nothing that stands out, even when I copy and paste to TextEdit or Word. Same goes with copying and pasting the data in QB's editable view. Damn, it's a curious issue. If I come across the answer, I'll get back to you. Thanks for all your suggestions. Best, -J.
