ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — Government filings show that Dell Technologies
reduced its employee count by 13,000 worldwide in 2023. This mass
reduction comes after a year with thousands of layoffs for Austin’s third-
largest employer.

According to Dell’s annual report to the U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission, as of February 2024, the company had 120,000 employees.

That same report from the previous year showed that Dell had 133,000
employees globally in February 2023.

In a statement, Dell said the report reflects its operations over the last
fiscal year.

On March 25, we filed our FY24 10-K that reflects our operations for the
last fiscal year and our ongoing commitment to assessing our business to
ensure we’re competitive and set up to deliver the best innovation, value
and service to our customers and partners.

Last summer, Dell confirmed to KXAN that it eliminated some jobs within
the company. While it did not elaborate on how many employees were
leaving, Bloomberg reported the tech giant was eliminating 6,650 roles
months before.

Paul Fletcher, CEO for Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area, said
despite reductions like this the overall job landscape in the Austin-area
is doing well.

“If you look at the big picture, no matter how fast growth is happening
throughout our nine-county area there are always individual pockets where
there may be receding in a certain area instead of growth. But the overall
growth that we have just totally nets that out,” Fletcher said.
