Aw gee, I wonder why that would be. D'ya think the hard drive manufacturer might have known something about that drive - like *timing* for instance? Something that you quite obviously don't have a clue about. > You also had to set the heads, sectors, and tracks correctly in bios or > on the controller card or you would get the same errors. And just for fun.... http://www.minuszerodegrees.net/manuals/Seagate_ST21_Installation_Guide.pdf The Seagate st21 was one of the most popular hdd controllers used in systems. And looking in the manual it states.. Error reading fixed disk is one of the errors you will get if it is not setup properly in bios. Looking at the information provided it gives you the drive parameters for a number of seagate drives and error issues which almost completely correlate with what I stated above. And just for more fun.... http://www.seasip.info/VintagePC/wangpc.html Information on the wang professional pc.

Thanks for that Grumpy - but you know what comes next. Stand by for lying tom's full Malvern line weasel, followed by active denial, goalpost theft and pike. We have all seen that before - move along, nothing to see here........ He will probably now produce a manual for some obscure machine (Exidy Sorceror would be a candidate) and argue that you and I are lying and wrong. After all CP/M is DOS, an EH holden is a Commodore, black is white and lying tom is still a pig-eyed, lying sack of shit.

Oh absolutely. Someone emailed me his latest missive about me, and now not only has he shortened my career at JCU by several years, but he has invented a male PhD education student who was a friend of his. No names of course. Of course he has declared that I started then withdrew from a degree. Something that I never did during my time working at JCU. > > We have all seen that before - move along, nothing to see here........ Yep, he certainly invents lies to suit himself. What amazes me is that he has *never* before brought this up. I mean it's unlike little Tommy not to get his knickers in a twist when he's been flogged senseless, but to have never brought up any information about my career at JCU until now is quite extraordinary. The funny part is that he still has no fucking idea what I did there. Yes I was a Student Administration Officer for the Education Faculty, however what that role entailed and why I was held in *very* high regard by Senior academics is beyond him. You may remember from your time there Professor John Gray from the English Dept who gave an impassioned speech at my leaving party the contents of which I will not divulge here but suffice to say he was most upset that I was leaving. > He will probably now produce a manual for some obscure machine > (Exidy Sorceror would be a candidate) and argue that you and I are > lying and wrong. His efforts with changing history in my career is almost laughable. I would love to know who his supposed male PhD candidate was..... It's funny how he never stumps up names of these people. Problem he has is that I can still call on friends who work there to confirm, if I don't recall the persons name myself. That of course is presumption that he actually exists.

Since you commenced your 'science' degree in the second semester of 2013, it is entirely possible that you had pulled the pin on your boring low level admin job and *possibly* opted to do a full time degree. Regardless, someone should have told you that getting a first degree at that very late stage in your career, and in a totally different field too, would be a complete waste of time. I can now understand why you were advised not to bother with a degree and pursue industry training - it's simple - you cannot possibly get payback on the cost of a 3 or 4 year degree at the age at which you commenced it. It's simple arithmetic but your ego pushed you into it anyway. "All those others at JCU with degrees, I'll show them I can get one too" and you *dropped out*. yeah, I guess you really showed them, huh? >> >> We have all seen that before - move along, nothing to see here........ > > Yep, he certainly invents lies to suit himself. If I had have decided to undertake a science degree it certainly would not have been at JCU. Let's make it clear here xeno, what you have stated above is an outright lie. That's right I never applied for nor attempted a science degree at *ANY* university in second semester 2013. > it is > entirely possible that you had pulled the pin on your boring low level > admin job and *possibly* opted to do a full time degree. There is truth in that statement, however many older people study for the pure enjoyment of it, although why I would want to spend $30000 to undertake a degree that had no relevance to my career I have no idea. > I can now understand why you were advised not to bother with a degree > and pursue industry training - it's simple - you cannot possibly get > payback on the cost of a 3 or 4 year degree at the age at which you > commenced it. How can I have *dropped out* when I never applied or attempted a degree at that point in my life. Again you are telling lies xeno. Prove me wrong. Let's make it pure economics. I could have my training paid for me and be paid very good money or I could complete a degree in science and spend the rest of my life asking 'Would you like fries with that?' A degree in comp sci would have relevance to your *current career*, no doubt about that! The point I noted was the age thing. After all, it was you telling everyone you dropped out of a degree because you were advised that industry qualifications were better. At your age in 2013, I'd have to agree. The Sorcerer, as unpacked out of the box, had no storage mechanism save an interface for a cassette tape - that much is true. What *you do not realise* is that an option for the Sorcerer was an *S100 card cage*. It was through this mechanism that floppy and hard disks could be added, in fact just about any S100 add on device could be used. http://tinyurl.com/hya6bfr and this; http://tinyurl.com/glxxf3w That was rather an expensive option for most as the S100 card cage cost nearly as much as the basic computer. It did bring the Sorcerer into line with what was then an industry standard. If you were a bit of a masochist, you could get these for practically nothing; http://tinyurl.com/hkddzy5 - hard sectored disk drives. One of my friends had a set identical to those in the link plugged into the S100 card cage in his Sorcerer. A friend of my former ISP created a SCSI disk controller interface that plugged into a port at the rear of the Sorcerer, the expansion interface port - the same port the S100 unit plugged into. This allowed the use of any SCSI drive or SCSI controller card. My former ISP still has his Sorcerer with the locally built interface. After all, he wrote the SCSI driver software. Another geeky friend still has his original sorcerer but he's only ever plugged a floppy controller into his. There were quite a few Sorcerers around in my early days in computing since Dick Smith was selling them, I can think of about 20 owners I knew. One was the Russian at the computer swap meets. Another was the secretary of SCUA who lived near me in Nunawading. The reason I knew them, because the Sorcerer has S100 capability and I was a member of the S100 computer group in Melbourne. Never had any s100 gear myself, I had a preference to SBCs and built a few in the 80s. -- Xeno First they ignore you, Then they ridicule you, Then they fight you, Then you win. Mahatma Ghandi

More than egg on xenoliar's face, his entire shit-storm of bullshit is about to come back and land on his face. Sorry to all concerned but this is going to be quite long - please read to the end and understand exactly what sort of creature we have hanging around in the form of xenoscum. Now xenoscum, I don't want you to be under any illusion in this - I am absolutely enjoying this and I intend to utterly excoriate you. For tonight you are out of the bozo bin, but rest assured you are going back where a piece of scum like you, with no redeeming features whatsoever, belongs in 24 hours time. Let's begin. So, I am a liar am I lying tom? Well let's see about that. You see at the outuset I had two problems. The first is that my memory of what happened in the DEIR office a long time ago has stayed with me and I was sure it was accurate and I certainly knew I wasn't lying. The second problem is that although not so much now, in the early days of personal computing I was a tech-head, I simply did not believe I could have mis-remembered something I have had an ongoing chuckle agout for decades since it happened. Thank you Clocky and Grumpy but I am not suffering from a degradation of memory at all. In fact it is lying tom clasener, the lowest, lying, pig-eyed, sack of shit to ever infest this or any other newsgroup who is the liar. I found myself wondering, why was the lying scum tom clasener so keen to ram the CP/M manual down everyone's throat. Of course the easy and first pass answer is that what was in it is convienient to him, but scumbag clasener has been stridently insistent that the CP/M user manual was "gold" as far as Concurrent DOS goes. I found myself wondering why. With the help of a friend I found myself remembering some very salient facts. Concurrent DOS was of course owned by Digital Research. Digital Research and all its Intellectual assets were sold to Novell where they formed a very important part of Netware. When Novell in turn restructured, the Digital Reseatch IP was sold to a gentleman by the name of Ray Noodra, who had a then family owned company called Caldera. Now Caldera put all its money into developing and extending Linux - the file managers used in every recent distro of Linux I have looked at still use the Nautilus file manager written by Caldera and released to the public domain. But things did not go well for Caldera and in a planned sale of assets (mainly its own linux distribution and its remaining Netware patents) Caldera stripped itself to the core. Then as a parting gift to the computing community Caldera put all the source code it owned, all executables and all documentation it owned into a sort of permanent internet archive. I give you www.drdos.net, and more particularly www.drdos.net/documentation Now DR-DOS and Concurrent DOS were designed to look as alike to and to be as compatible as possible with MS/PC-DOS. At a point somewhat after my interest in DOS waned and certainly well after the incident I related, DR-DOS and Concurrent DOS were completely merged into the one product - BASED ON CONCURRENT DOS. Now, I'd like to pause here for a moment. It is well known that I loathe the piece of scum tom clasener with a passion, I regard it as a loathsome piece of shit to scraped off your boot and kicked into the gutter where it belongs. BUT, I do have regard for its skills in googling things, that is its one true life time acheivement. And then it clicked, of course xenoscum had found drdos.net - it would have been a natural part of finding the CP/M manual online that the lying scum claims to own in paper form (remember that personal library only marginally larger than the NSW State Library - I guess he has all his imaginary friends there to help him curate it). That realization then in turn led me to understand why xenoscum was banging on so hard about "his" CP/M manual. what the disgusting, lying arsewipe had decided was that it it was unlikeluy that I would find the site that he had already found and that he could therefore accuse me of lying with impunity. Sadly for you xenoscum, when you rile me enough I am a pretty good internet researcher myself. So, let's cut to the chase. Lets go to the system programming guide and in particular, chapter 5. Chapter five is entitled "Error Handling". Got that sinking feeling yet xenoscum? Here's the link http://www.drdos.net/documentation/sysprog/chap5.htm Now lets look at the nicely tabulated error messages generated by C-DOS/DR-DOS, and well let's just put the money shot in and look directly at error code number 31. "General Failure". Game, set and match xenoscum! You are doubly dammed, firstly for lying about your own "experience" which in truth amounted to nothing more than what you could franticaly google and secondly, and far more importantly, you found drdos.net, you looked at the Sys prog manual and you saw the error codes. Then instead of doing what a real man, or a decent human being posessed of the merest level of decency would do, and even instead of simply slinking away or (gasp) even apoligising, you chose to say fuck it "I will wage a shit storm of bullshit" and win the day with the sheer volume of my lies, and hope that nobody else finds drdos.net". You tom clasener are a piece of lying, worthless scum beyond any experience of mine. I have dealt with confidence tricksters, fraudsters, embezzlers, thieves and even one murderer and not one of them would have sunk as low as you so effortlessly and willingly plunge. Tom Clasener, there was a saying I heard a long time ago, "you are so low you would need an extension ladder to reach a snake's belly." That is you to an absolute "T". You are now known exactly for what you are - a liar willing to continue a campaign of lies (and calling your interlocuter a liar to boot) when you were already in posession of absolute knowledge not only that I was 100% correct, but that you were wrong. Now just how many times did you call me liar again xenoscum? How many lines have you posted not only glleefully proclaiming me to be a liar but positvely orgasming in your delight? I sincerely wish I could meet you in person, it has been over 30 years since I was last involved in a physical confrontation, but let me tell you i would willingly beat the living shit out of you and count it as a service to humanity. I have never in my entire life encountered a more disgusting, loathsome creature than you. And at that point - I rest my case. Understand xenoscum, there is no weasling out of this you are utterly and completely "sprung" for what you are!

I can remember there was a Caldera DOS Ok Felix for you I'll put up the cognitively impaired version I told a (true) and funny story about somethign that happened a very long time ago that involved and computer and its operating system. Your mate xenoscum said that i made it up - you have had a lash at that yourself and were invited to provide some proof that I had actually made a claim that you and xenoscum were making for me - not surprisingly - still waiting by the way. Anyway, xenoscum did a lot of googling and found two things - firstly he found a user manual for the operating system that was one of the ancestors of the O/s i was talking about, xenoscum of course maintained that his find was "golden" and that i was therefore a liar. But the problem you see was that in order to find the manual he was (mis)quoting, xenoscum also had to have found the very manual for the O/S I was talking about (they are on the same server you see) So, knowing that he was wrong and I was right xenoscum commenced a strident barrage of bullshit trying to win the day - you know the sort of thing you do when confronted over monster cables improving digital derived pictures and worn out dangerous tyres. But unfortunately I found the web-site xenoliar had already found, and well it was all over from there. Just like you when you didn't know about Exif data and tried to pass off different tyre photos as being of the ones off your poxy magna. Understand now fetid?

Ok, I re-read the post, and it seems that what you said was that someone in the office sent the text of that joke to another user. Well apparently fetid i have more than you, after all I know, and you apparently do not, that a HDMI cable is *not* an A/V cable - it is a digital interconnect cable. In fact, at longer lengths, some HDMI cables now have active electronics built into them to preserve the integrity of the digital stream. > > > and worn out dangerous tyres. > > worn but serviceable tyres Ok, post your *ORIGINAL* photos again in that case - you know the ones that every qualified mechanic who saw them told you were stuffed - not the completely different photos you published later and where you were brought undone by your lack of knowledge of Exif. > You know those same photos that every one one ofth epreviously mentioned qualified mechanics said were not the photos they saw originally.
